Wisdom Teeth

Have you ever wondered why at the age of when you think you have enough teeth, you still have tooth ache caused by your wisdom teeth?

It is called wisdom teeth because they appear much later than the other teeth, at an age where people are presumably ‘wiser’ than a child.

If it is causing you intense pain, an extraction is the way to go. As for myself, I’ve had the pain come and go over the years. Sometimes with a fever, or just a tolerable toothache. I still think that an extraction is not necessary (let’s hope it will stay that way foreverJ)

Wisdom teeth is one of a few vestigial organs in humans. A structure is considered vestigial if it is not performing the function it was desired to do compared to other creatures with the same part. Other vestigial organs in humans are the appendix, body hair and coccyx.

The appendix and coccyx could be surgically removed without any major problems. As for body hair, waxing should it I guess. Although I should say that the eyebrows keep the sweat out of our eyes but anywhere else it is quite useless because we now wear clothes to keep us warm.
